When Charlotte and Angus Buchanan, both 37, bought their home in northwest London’s Harlesden neighborhood in 2019, the garden was so overgrown they “could hardly see the end of it,” Charlotte recalled recently. The couple, who met in their teens, began dating in their 20s and started their design business, Buchanan Studio, in 2018. “We design restaurants, which has led to the kitchen being the way it is,” explained Angus of the professional-grade barbecue setup. In addition to restaurants, furniture, fabrics and brand identity projects, Buchanan Studio produces a few over-the-top events each year. After staging a four-day celebrity wedding, making dinner for a crowd at home feels relatively easy.

Ron DeSantis wants to repeal their access to in-state tuition rates for undocumented students. At least 12,000 DACA recipients benefit from in-state tuition in Florida. Ron DeSantis's extensive immigration reform legislative package, undocumented students could lose access to in-state tuition rates. The legislation would repeal a 2014 law that gave undocumented students and beneficiaries of the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which protects those who came as children from deportation, access to in-state tuition rates. DeSantis' proposal has garnered pushback from business groups, who say the move is not only "unfair" but could hurt the workforce.
HAVANA, Jan 2 (Reuters) - Priests from Cuba’s Afro-Cuban Santeria religion on Monday warned of a difficult year ahead and called on followers to guard against calamities and mounting social ills after a tough year in 2022 in which a record number of Cubans left the Communist-run island. "Do not delay pending religious works and consecrations,” the priests, known as babalawos and grouped together in the Yoruba Cultural Association of Cuba, advised in their Letter of the Year published Sunday. “Natural disasters are forecast due to hurricanes, sea turmoil and river flooding with economic and human losses,” their Letter said. A record number of Cubans left, with some 250,000 entering the United States according to U.S. government statistics, the majority crossing over the Mexican border. "I am very hopeful that Cuba and the United States will reach an agreement."
